LYSISTRATA
by Aristophanes
March 5-17, 2010 Civic Center Music Hall * Freede Little Theatre
A co-production with the UCO Department of Theatre
One of the few surviving plays written by Aristophanes, Lysistrata is a comic account of one woman’s extraordinary mission to end the Peloponesian War, by convincing the women of Greece to use their wares (or not!) as only women can - a strategy that inflames the battle between the sexes. Notable for its expose of sexual relations in a male-dominated society and for its use of double ententre and explicit obscenities, Lysistrata is still revered not only for its timeless humor, but its distinct xxxxx. Before Debbie ‘Did’ Dallas, ‘Greece’ was the word! For mature audiences.
